MARKUS E. HACKETT

Associate,  Appraiser & Agent

Markus began his real estate career in the summer of 2014 for Brennan, Jewett & Associates.  Markus holds licenses as a Certified General Appraiser (CA OREA No. AG 3004581) and Real Estate Sales Agent (CA BRE No. 02020460).  The properties Markus has appraised, include a wide range of property types: rice drying and hulling facilities, vineyards, walnut, almond, pistachio orchard developments, cattle ranches, open cropland, wetland habitat and rural residential home sites.  In addition, Markus has assisted with more complex properties such as leased fee estates and conservation easement valuations. 

Both Markus’ father and grandfather were agricultural real estate appraisers in Northern California.  Growing up in Live Oak, in the heart of the Sacramento Valley, Markus comes from a long history of cattle/sheep ranching.  He attended California State University, Chico and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Business.   Prior to his career with Brennan, Jewett and Associates, Markus worked as an appraisal intern the previous summer. Markus lives in Woodland, CA with his wife and son.

JOHN P. BRENNAN

Owner - Partner

As a farm manager, land appraiser and broker, John Brennan has a keen interest in the integration of agriculture and conservation.  He specializes the in management of diversified farming operations, including Davis Ranches and Goose Club Farms North.  John is co-owner and President of Brennan, Jewett & Associates, with offices in Woodland and Colusa; active throughout the Sacramento Valley.

In addition, John is a partner with Lance and Jon Matteoli of Matteoli Brothers, a large diversified farming operation in Robbins, CA.  Together, they own Robbins Rice Company Inc., a rice marketing firm focused on the production of Japanese short grain rice.  The partnership also owns Tule Basin Farms and Knaggs Ranch LLC; two integrated rice and conservation projects in the Sacramento Valley.  John is also a partner in Cal Marsh and Farm Ventures, LLC along with Huey Johnson and David Katz.  This partnership serves as the main public/private proponent of a salmon restoration project, the Nigiri Project, located on the Knaggs Ranch in the Yolo Bypass.

John holds licenses as a Certified General Appraiser (CA OREA No. AG020250), Real Estate Broker (CA BRE No. 01107673), and has provided expert testimony in Superior Court.  John is an active Board Member of Northern California Water Association, The Sacramento River Forum, Sutter Bypass Butte Slough Irrigation District, and the Yolo County Conservancy Advisory Board.  As a graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, John earned his degree in agricultural business management.  Originally from Yuba City, John now lives in Davis, CA with his wife and three children.

CLINT B. JEWETT

Owner - Partner

Clint Jewett graduated from California State University of Chico in 1994 with a BS in Agricultural Business.  Following college, Clint worked in lending with an emphasis on financing farms and ranches.  In 2001, he joined Peter Brennan and Sons as an agricultural appraiser.  While appraisal was his primary focus, Clint is now the co-owner of Brennan, Jewett & Associates and works in all aspects of real estate and farm management. 

Clint holds licenses as a Certified General Appraiser (CA BREA No. AG029457), Real Estate Salesperson (CA DRE No. 01789662), and has provided expert testimony in Colusa County Superior Court, and mediation proceedings in Sutter County.  He is a private pilot, a member of Colusa Rotary, Colusa County Airport Land Use Committee, and Our Lady of Lourdes School Advisory Committee.  Clint resides in Colusa, CA with his two children.  

 

 

EMILY A. JAMES

Associate,  Project Manager

As an Associate at Brennan, Jewett & Associates, Emily collaborates on the management of several large farms in the Sacramento Valley.  Hired as a farm consultant, she works to build farm plans, budgets, coordinates and implements conservation projects, and organizes educational workshops, tours, and events.  Emily has a strong commitment to the longevity and preservation of agriculture in California and believes through conscious and collaborative efforts that we will successfully integrate conservation into “working farm” landscapes.

In addition to her farm manger role, Emily maintains the role of Sales/Logistics Manager for Robbins Rice Company (RRC).  For RRC, she acts as the main interface with the rice buying clients, including contract negotiations, pricing, processing orders, and invoicing.  On the other side of the company, she oversees the logistics including: inventory control, shipping, packaging, and scheduling.  She developed the private label (Black Fox Brand), built our online/social media presence, and is now focused on the “bird stamp” program, a targeted environmental marketing project.
